The Elephant in the Room (2021)

The depiction of mundane objects such as chairs and tables are important subjects in my paintings. Whereas the sore goal of these objects is usually to be functional; merely existing in space in order to assist the human body, in my paintings and sculptures they have become the protagonist personalities. Time and again I paint them, and time and again they transform. Sometimes, it seems as if they are going through a metamorphosis. And after shaping and shifting in form, they are now talking about this experience. Connecting or disconnecting with the other chairs and tables that went through similar events; sharing feelings of loneliness or unconditional connections with each other. As if they are persons themselves.
